NYC

NYC is a fun city! This time Jason, my sister Lytle and my brother-in-law Darwin all went together and had fun navigating our way through the city. We visited Rockefellar Center, the New York Public Library, Times Square, walked next to the Empire State Building and browsed through the shops on 5th Ave, oh, and enjoyed delicious pizza! There's definitely much much more to see and do, so hopefully we will return soon.

Working 9 to 5

Actually, I'm working 7-7, rotating days and nights. I've been on a blogging break because I've entered the workforce again and am really loving it! Well, maybe "loving" is an exaggeration, but I do enjoy my job. I thought I would have a harder time not seeing Isabella for several days a week, but because my mom is here helping us out, I can go to work worry free. I definitely miss her, but work is busy and I'm always moving which gives me little time to think about other things. I know it's only my second week but so far, things are going great. I'm working at Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in their 18 bed intensive care unit. The unit is a combination of medical and surgical patients including CABG (coronary arterty bypass graft) which gives me a diverse experience, something I like because seeing the same kinds of conditions over and over can get a bit boring.
So far, I'm very impressed by the University of Penn Health System, it appears that they really do take great care of their employees and morale is high which makes such a difference.
I'm sure I will have many crazy, sad and even gory stories to share in the future, so stay tuned.

If this doesn't brighten your day, I don't know what will. video

No more snowflakes

I finally made it to the new Crate & Barrel near our house today ready and excited to purchase the coolest item (the snowflake pancake mold on the griddle) and to my disappointment, they were sold out. Well, I was not yet discourged because I would just go home and call other local stores and have these cute snowflakes shipped to my house. I ended up calling about four different stores on a desparate hunt and several times was told that they are completely out nationwide and that people are calling everyday looking for this hot pancake mold.
I was really looking forward to making these delicious snowflake pancakes on Christmas morning for the whole family to enjoy, but it looks like all of the other eager and early holiday shoppers had the same idea and beat me to it. Lesson learned. We'll just have to enjoy pancakes the old fashioned way, round and kind of boring but still delicious.

Let it snow!

I'm embracing the weather here and actually enjoyed the first snowfall in south Jersey. Looks like it's time to start a fire and have a cup of steaming hot chocolate. video

He means business

I know Jason will not appreciate the unsolicited attention and compliments from me, but I just can't resist. When Jason sets his mind to something and gets into the zone, there is no stopping him. He was in full force tonight. He decided he was going to clean out our one car garage so that I could park the Subaru because the days are now averaging 38 degrees. Now, did he simply clean out the garage and call it quits....no. He cleaned out the garage, organized everything in the garage, parked the Subaru, cleaned the Subaru, washed two loads of laundry, washed the dishes, prepared the bottles for Isabella, and even began organizing that dreaded kitchen cabinet which contains everything we think we're going to use one day but never do.
Gosh, how did I get so lucky?

2008

I've been looking around for the perfect planner for which to organize my life in 2008 and I finally found it! I love this design from whoMi. It's perfect and has both a monthly and weekly layout which I love! Because I'll be working both days and nights at the hospital, this planner will help me figure out what day it is as I'm walking around like a sleep deprived zombie.
