One Liner

Those of you who know Jason, know what a great sense of humor he has and how funny he can be. One of the reasons I married the guy, among many, is because he unlike anyone else could always make me laugh and after 8 years of marriage, this still holds true. I want to share a one-liner with you that I think you'll enjoy. He came home from the gym the other night and the next thing I see is a huge piece of cheesecake on his plate. I give him a perplexed look and ask why he's eating cheesecake after working out and his response, "Uh, didn't you know that 30 minutes after working out, your body burns all of the calories you consume?" (maybe he didn't use the word consume) Anyway, I had no idea of this fact and have missed countless opportunities to indulge in post work out foods like Lindt truffles and Haagen-Dazs ice cream. Now, I'll be sure to sit infront of the t.v. with a tub of bons bons after my spin class next time.

A few more firsts

Giving Thanks

We spent a wonderful week visiting family and enjoying amazing food at Jason's parents house in San Jose, California. Isabella met her nine cute cousins for the first time, played in an exer-saucer,

had her first lunch date at Neiman Marcus cafe and enjoyed watching the rest of us devour the most flavorful and delicious Thanksgiving dinner ever! As always, Clark and Darlene spoiled us by stocking the pantry with delicious food, cooking amazing meals and never asking for a helping hand.
Jason spent a few mornings in their new hot tub, talking about everything under the sun with his dad, so cute. We truly had an enjoyable and relaxing time and look forward to our return.

Tagged for Randomness

I will admit that I think this whole tagging business in the blogosphere is mildly annoying, but nevertheless entertaining and because my sweet friend Katie tagged me, I just can't ignore, so here it goes......

1) I had a pet tarantula when I was 6. My dad caught it at our farm and of course we just had to bring him home to the big city of Houston to show him off to our friends only to leave him outside in his aquarium during a thunderstorm where he drowned. I felt so bad.

2) I used to play mean tricks on my friends in elementary school. I I would talk my sister into setting booby traps so when our friends came over, they would get water on them when they opened a door or I even went as far as to trick my friend into sitting in dog poop, I think I got a spanking for that maneuver.

3) I love to fish. We had a pond on our farm and I would go fishing after school almost everyday. I'm still proud of the fact that I caught the biggest catfish ever out of that pond.

4) Sometimes I stay up late at night after Isabella has gone to bed and pour over the Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, Crate and Barrel and other magazines, just dreaming about having a picture perfect house one day....lame, I know.

5) I tried Ben and Jerry's ice cream a few months ago for the first time and realize just how much goodness I've missed in my life over the last 27 years.

6) I will never kill an insect unless it's threatening my life or Isabella's life. I have no fear of bugs, no matter how big and scary they might look.

7) I'm a morning person. I love nothing more than waking up before everyone else, working out, coming home and making breakfast for the family, it gets my day off to a great start!

I would love to tag my fabulous sister, Lytle.

Our Texas Adventure

Ten days in Texas, where do I even begin? It was great to be back in Texas visiting family and friends and showing off Isabella. She was such a great sport and handled the trip like a pro. We did a lot of driving, visiting people in Houston, College Station and Austin, slept in a total of four different places and of course ended up with a three hour delay getting back to Philadelphia. A few of the highlights were introducing Isabella to my crazy, but great Uncle Steve and his sweet and beautiful wife Gerianne, watching Lytle and Isabella play and thoroughly enjoying each other and reconnecting with wonderful friends. I was suprised that only 7 months have passed, but already I feel like a visitor in the state I've lived in my entire life. It looks like New Jersey is feeling more and more like home, even if the high tomorrow is only 43 degrees!

Jetsetters

Isabella and I are going to the great state of Texas tomorrow and we are so excited! I'm finally taking her back to her homeland where we will enjoy amazing BBQ and even better Tex-Mex. We actually aren't going for the food, but to hang out with family and great friends, the good food is just a perk. I need to finish packing, (I'm a last minute kind of packer) but now that I'm packing for two, it's a bit more complicated. Although, I can't seem to break away from the tv, my favorite show Divine Design is on, I'm such a sucker for home makeovers. Good thing tonight is daylight savings, that extra hour of sleep will be needed.
