Gig 'em

It's official, Lytle is going to become an Aggie! She was accepted into the Master's of Economics program at Texas A&M University and begins this fall. A huge congratulations to Lytle!!! We are all so proud of her. Even though she's going to spend the next few years in Aggieland .....we all know she's a Longhorn at heart.

The Ultramarathoner

Today marks the 2nd week of Isabella's arrival into the world and rest assured......she definitely has arrived. I've decided that parenting, at least in the first few weeks of life is a test of endurance. My last 8 hours of consecutive sleep was the night before I went into the hospital and regrettably I did not savour every blissful moment. These days I consider myself lucky to get a 3 hour stretch. When I think of endurance races, the ultramarathoners take the cake in my book. These guys run 50 or 100 mile races, often for 24 hours or more and push themselves past physical and mental barriers that the average person will never experience. For me, the physical and mental battle usually occurs at 4 am when I've been awake trying to put Isabella to sleep for the last hour and I lay her down and claim victory only for her to awaken 10 minutes later and the process starts all over again. The joys of motherhood......but remembering the words of the ladies whom I viewed with skepticism...."I wouldn't trade this for the world."

Welcome Isabella

On July 2nd at 2:55 pm Isabella Sophia Mulliner entered the world, and as a result, my world changed forever. I never imagined motherhood to be so absolutely incredible, rewarding, emotional and really.......the best thing that has ever happened to me!
I must admit that I was skeptical when moms complained about parenthood and followed up their comments with this statement "Oh, but I wouldn't trade this for the world." Well, I now know what they are talking about, except, for this first week, I have truly enjoyed every minute with Isabella and have no complaints (yes, it's only day 5, I know).
Jason is also settling into his new role as dad, he stares at her and says, "Have you ever seen anyone so incredibly cute?" I think we are both still in awe of this beautiful little creation.
